Al Qaeda – The terrorists who never existed
Claiming that Al Qaeda doesn’t exist is a bit like claiming that the world is in fact flat. Icke claims on his website that an extract from an interview with Robin Cook, former British Foreign secretary, helps to prove the non-existence of Al Qaeda:
Al-Qaida, literally “the database”, was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians.
This is only the claim of a politician who are known for being notoriously ill informed and economic with the truth. Whilst there might’ve have been a CIA file called Al Qaeda, the real literal meaning of Al Qaeda is not ‘the database’ as claimed by Robin Cook. It is an Arabic term meaning foundation or basis in its when translated directly into English.
The term Al Qaeda had its genesis back in the ’70′s . Bin Laden explains it thus:
The name ‘al-Qaeda’ was established a long time ago by mere chance. The late Abu Ebeida El-Banashiri established the training camps for our mujahedeen against Russia’s terrorism. We used to call the training camp al-Qaeda. The name stayed..
This is similiar to what is being claimed by Robin Cook. However Bin Laden claims it was him and his mujuhedeen who created the name and NOT the CIA as claimed by Robin Cook. This seems a far more likely than Cooks’ explanation. Why would the CIA whose native language is English, use an Arabic term to describe one of their (CIA’s) databases on terrorists unless it was a term already in existence?
Icke also has a link to the youtube video of the bbc documentary called ‘Shadows in the Cave’ which is riddled with propaganda and lies.
Lie number one: The progam claims that the opening footage which shows Osama Bin Laden leading a group of heavily armed terrorists was staged for the cameras. The progam claims Bin Laden hired these men to look like his terrorists. The implication here is that he was never in reality the leader or head of any terrorist, paramilitary organisation ever.
This is ridiculous. Are we therefore supposed to believe that all the countless video clips from different eras showing Bin Laden and his terrorists, were in fact also staged with hired ‘actor’s’ portraying muslim terrorists?. And the bbc expect people to pay a license fee to watch this rubbish?
Lie number two:They claim that in order to prosecute Bin Laden, the US had to link him to an actual terrorist organisation. They say since he wasn’t the head of any established organization it would be difficult to prosecute him so the CIA invented Al Qaeda in order to justify a prosecution. This is not the case. There are very specific anti-terrorist laws in the US which allow the US to prosecute a terrorist or terrorists whether or not they are part of any officially recognised terrorist organization.
Lie number three:The program talks about the myth of an Al Qaeda that never existed which was spread by the CIA and FBI in order to justify the wide ranging ‘War on Terror’. They’re missing the whole fundamental issue here:
Al Qaeda is as much a state of mind or allegiance as an actual organisation. Al Qaeda has never had a fixed, acknowledged geo-location or headquaters, because this would make it easy for the CIA and FBI et al to track down it’s members and arrest or eliminate them!!!
The sheer scale of the atrocity of the 9/11attacks and the publicity that followed, naturally makes Bin Laden a figure head, mentor and martyr to Islamic terrorists worldwide. They’re inspired by Bin Laden not controlled by Bin Laden – there’s a distinct difference. Therefoe, it seems quite logical for Islamic terrorists worldwide to generically identify themselves as a part of Al Qaeda. However, these terrorist cells are mainly autonomous and not centrally controlled directly by Bin Laden himself although they may be motivated by what he says.
The BBC is a left wing, socialist organisation who will as a matter of course attack any perceived ‘right wing’ propaganda. Since the George Bush/Repulican party’s so called ‘War on Terror’ was focused primarily on attacking Al Qaeda; an Islamic terrorist organisation, by denying the existence of Al Qaeda, the BBC are in effect saying there is no significant Islamic terrorist threat and subsequent need for action against these terrorists. This is extreme left wing propaganda masquerading as objective, factual journalism.
